| Formatted contents note | 基本上，「宗教比較」這門學問在學術界有兩派。一派認為，兩種不同的宗教是無法比較的（此派所持的立場為「不可化約論」，英文是Incommmensurability Thesis ），因為每個宗教都有不同的世界觀、不同解釋問題的預設，因此，任何方式的比較都是不可能的。另一派卻認為比較是可能的。這派學者認為，經過客觀的分析，可以比較不同宗教的一些平行觀念，只要有詳細的註解和描述，明白各自的特色以及一些相對應之處，就可以找到相同點和相異的看法。<br/><br/>大體而言，佛教對於人生的反省是從苦難開始；而孔子的儒學則側重務實，並分析”為人」的角色與責任；老子所關注的卻是宇宙不變的法則—道，以及道在人生中的具體應用。基督教所強調的則是，人應以受造者的身份，用信心來回應造物者的召喚。<br/><br/>若要將兩種不同的宗教傳統和教義做比較，需要精通這兩個領域的學問，否則便是自說自話，沒有多大的意義。<br/><br/>本書作者莊祖鯉先生既擁有化工博士學位，受過西方嚴謹的科學訓練，又潛心研究中國文化多年，通曉基督教與中國的傳統，獲得美國三一國際大學文化研究哲學博士學位。如今把他鑽研的成果出版以饗讀者，對於今天有意釐清基督教思想和中國傳統信仰關係的知識分子來說，不啻為一難得佳作。 |
